For practical purposes wire is delivered on coils from the drawing mills. In order to make the wire usable it is nearly always necessary to straighten the wire. This is either done on the same machine as the forming (2D and 3D) or if the wire is just required to be in straight lengths this is done on a wire straighten and cut machine.  In the machine shown in this video this is achieved by feeding the wire through a spinner box before it hits a limit switch, which triggers the cut – thus straightening and cutting to the desired length.
